A fire errupted around 5 o'clock at the prisons' toiletes. According to the police, the fire was set by immigrant prisoners (mostly of iranian or afghan origin), using their sheets and clothes, anti-bug spray and flammable materials. The policemen managed to put off the fire before it expands.
A few months ago, six iranian and one afghan prisoner climbed up the prison's water tower protesting their longtime emprisonment. Immigrants without papers are also asking for their legalisation, while interior minister Christos Patsalidis stated that immigrant kept in prison will be dealed with in an other maner only if they have a passport to present.
